The main objective of this project was to conduct a comparative analysis of the physicochemical properties of BIODIESEL produced from shea nut oil (shea butter) with Niger Delta fossil diesel in Nigeria.
Despite the numerous advantages of biodiesel over diesel, the high cost of biodiesel production continues to be the bottleneck in a commercial application. This is because of the conversion of edible oil for biodiesel production. Unlike edible oil; shea butter has no direct impact on food supply and it’s cheap to purchase.
This study has shown that biodiesel produced from shea butter possesses the quality to be accepted as an alternative fuel source in Nigeria.
